Premature greying (known as Palitya) is heavily linked to the Pitta dosha, which represents the element of fire and heat in the body. Excessive stress, smoking, chemical dyes, or environmental heat can overheat the hair follicles, leading to oxidative stress and a shutdown of melanin (pigment) production.
To restore the hair's natural pigment, Ayurveda recommends cooling, nutrient-dense herbs such as Indigo, Henna, Ratanjot, and iron-rich Mandur. These ingredients form a protective shield around the follicle, shield it from UV radiation, and stimulate melanin production. Regular application of a specialized nightly leave-in oil helps maintain rich, dark, healthy hair over a 60-90 day cycle.
